Orange
- Never double the leading tone.
- Resolve leading tone up to tonic if in outer voice (soprano and bass).
- Spacing.
- Resolve 7th of chord down by step.
Yellow
- vii°7 must be used in first inversion only.
- 2nd inversion triads must function as a neighbor, passing or cadential chord.
- Voice leading for 2nd inversion triads i approach and resolve all voices by step or common tone (cadential approach may have leap).
Green
- No overlapping (not jump too much).
- No voice crossing.
- No melodic leap of an augmented interval.
- Double bass in second inversion triad.
Blue
- Double root of root position triad, except vi (VI) in deceptive resolution (vi - V).
- Consecutive 5th by contrary motion.
- Consecutive 8th by contrary motion.
White
- Voice range:
S = C4 - G5
A = G3 - D4
T = C3 - G4
B = E2 - C4
- Melodic leap of more than M6 in an upper voice.
Red
- Mispelled chord.
- Don't do parallel octaves.
- Don't do parallel fifths.
- Don't do parallel unisons.
